Diamond Heights Neighborhood Food
Pantry at St. Aidan's
St. Aidan's food pantry serves
food to 96 needy households in total and an average of 80 people per week.
The food pantry is open
every Friday from 1:00 - 2:30 PM.
We currently have 37 volunteers,
15 of whom are neighborhood shoppers themselves. Volunteers work
on site, twice a month on average.
The volunteers work in two shifts: 1) the Muscle
shift (9:00 - 10:00 AM), unloading the pallets of food and
setting up the site, and 2) the Serving shift (12:30 -
3:00 pm), who meet, greet, and tend to the shoppers.
We see the pantry as an extension of our
Eucharist celebration. We serve food around an altar with
lighted candles, and the feeling is growing among shoppers and
workers alike, that this is "our" church.
